Middle-Round Mispricing: Six Players Worth Buying a Round Early

The middle rounds are where drafts are won, and right now the market is mispricing a handful of players with real paths to weekly relevance. These aren't dart throws in the double-digit rounds. Each of these guys has a defined role, a soft depth chart, or an offense that funnels volume their way. Draft them a round early and you'll still be getting a discount.

Alec Pierce, WR, IND

Pierce is going in the fifth (5.07) as the field debates whether the Colts' passing game can support a WR2, but his path is cleaner than the ADP suggests. He's the vertical piece in an offense that already supports Josh Downs and Michael Pittman, and his air yards translate to spike weeks even in down games. You don't draft Pierce for a floor; you draft him because he can win you a week outright.

Target him at the 5-6 turn. If someone in your league takes him at 5.07, don't chase, but he's worth a late fifth if you already have your RB base.

Bhayshul Tuten, RB, JAX

Tuten sits at 5.03 with 805 drafts, which tells you the market is intrigued but not convinced. The path here is workload consolidation. If he separates from the committee, he's a top-20 back in a Jacksonville offense that wants to run. The upside outstrips almost every back going in the next two rounds.

Jordyn Tyson, WR, NO

In an offense searching for playmakers, a rookie who earns snaps can outproduce his cost by two full rounds. This is the classic upside swing you want at the WR3/4 spot.

Grab him in the seventh if you're loaded at running back and can afford to bet on route volume.

RJ Harvey, RB, DEN

Harvey (7.11) shares a backfield with J.K. Dobbins and Jacory Croskey-Merritt questions, but Denver's offense has been generous to backs who catch the ball. His ADP prices him as a pure bench stash, yet a receiving role alone makes him a PPR flex. Any injury ahead of him and he's a weekly starter.

Josh Downs, WR, IND

Downs at 8.08 is the slot piece in an offense we already flagged with Pierce, and slot targets are the most stable currency in PPR. He's not going to win you a title, but a target floor in the high teens week to week is worth more than the eighth-round tag implies. This is a reliable WR4 you can start in bye weeks without flinching.

Rashid Shaheed, WR, SEA

Shaheed lands at 10.11, deep enough that he's essentially free. His deep speed is a weekly boom-bust weapon, and a new home in Seattle gives him a role behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba where explosive plays are the whole point. In a 10th-round dart throw, ceiling is all that matters, and Shaheed has it.

The best sleeper isn't the cheapest name; it's the player one snap or one injury away from a startable role, bought a round before the market corrects.

Build your roster with a stable base early, then spend your middle and late picks on these paths to volume. Pierce and Tuten are the swings with league-winning ceilings; Downs and Shaheed are the safer bets to return their draft cost. Take them a round ahead of ADP and you're still getting value.
